Resurrecting Lithium Ion batteries.

I use a similar principle to get them working, just a higher voltage battery and put it across the terminals.
in most lithium batteries there is a protection circuit to prevent you charging them if the battery voltage drops too low, this cuts in within a second or so of plugging the battery in to charge, so this method of boosting gradually builds up the voltage to a level above which the protective circuit doesnt trip it out of charging, I have mostly done this to recover camera batteries, and most are still going strong years later, quite often I will just use an old 12v car battery (or spare from one of my boats, as long as the voltage is higher than the voltage battery you are trying to get working.
