Tamiya 1/24 Mercedes SLR McLaren
« on: June 17, 2018, 07:27:08 pm »

Hi all well I've decided to start this one, it's supposed to be a see through model but I didn't like the fact that the roof of the clear body had the Tamiya brand moulded into it which you could clearly see so I decided to spray the body a solid colour.

There is a neat way of smoothing a clear part that has been abraided, but it would have been better is Tamiya had retooled the roof so it had no trademark in the first place.

Is that paint the cheap but quality paint you have used of late?

It is mate, Poundland (I will admit it takes ages to fully dry, a week or so) but hey for a pound and that gloss I can live with that.

I'm really enjoying this kit, being Tamiya everything is a great fit, I'm loving the clever way they designed the rear and front windscreen, no gluing all push fit and I like that they supply masks for said windscreen anyway here's the next lot of progress.

Hi all It's finished I must say I enjoyed it.
Since I mentioned turning the 1/8 traction avant into a steampunk vehicle I think this looks like it would be fairly easy to turn into a steampunk vehicle so I may practice on this one first.
