Tug towing and scale sailing at Balne Moor 1st July
« on: June 24, 2018, 09:03:43 am »

On Sunday 1st July we are holding an informal tug towing and scale sailing event.

This is an opportunity to tow or sail around the harbours and obstacles at Balne Moor.  For both activities there will be a course map to follow, but it will be a fun event rather than a serious competition ( they will be later in the year when you've had time to practise) :-))

As always there will be food and drinks available.

An enjoyable day at the pond, but boy was it hot.  I reckon the pond level has dropped a foot during this heatwave %%

We had a good turn out of the usual suspects

A few photos, but I think the photographer was suffering from heatstroke

Hi Stan,

No worries we understand have a great one next week :-)) The weather is set to hold they say O0

Andy's tug worked really well and got a thorough blooding. It is now pond colour (muddy) and has
a scratch or two. He had fun though :-))

I think though that the mud in the water is saving us from the dreaded  algae.

Hi Mike,
   Due to prior commitment,s I could only stay for a couple of hours and boy was it hot! Then I got back on the motorbike and realized just how hot.
    When I got back to Southport and off the bike it was 31c. I then had to soldier through a cool shower and several refreshing ice cold ciders. This retirement is sheer hell. Hope to be over for the Roses with the Norton Cross complete with new superstructure but watch this space.
      Thanks again to everyone especially the Kitchen staff.
              Cheers, Pete :-)) :-)) :-))

I had a great day , due to mechanical issues only sailed for a short time, and still yet to have a tow. Many thanks to all who offer words of advice and encouragement.

Hopefully all will be ready for the next event on the 22nd.

Tell me about it Pete, at least you had running air conditioning on the bike :}

Here is a photo of Andy's Porthgarth showing the mud tidemark :}
