Hi,
Does anyone know if the length of travel can be adjusted on the sail winch or is a best via the transmitter?

i have three of these... the only method i know of to adjust is via transmitter EPA.  it is NOT a digital servo, and offers NO programability directly.   this also means that once you have the EPA set, you will definitely want to set up fail-safe settings so that loss of radio signal doesn't tear stuff apart.

JerryTodd:
Or a servo stretcher for "dumb" transmitters.

mickkays:
Have you looked at a servo morph from action electronics ( about £18), It certainly does the job but you need the space in your boat to fit it.

How to get up to eight and a half turns, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaRFgXzupFA, using Arduino or other microprocessor.

If you are using it for a sail boat, and you only need a moderate increase in sail sheet travel, consider using a larger drum.
For example, a 4cm diameter drum will wind approx. 12.5 cm of line per full rotation, a 5cm diameter drum would wind almost 20cm per rotation, and a 6cm drum would wind 28cm. However, the larger the drum, the more torque needed.
