Hello from Aberdeenshire
« on: July 26, 2018, 08:40:29 am »

Hello everyone,

I'm from Aberdeenshire and I'm new here. I'm a reasonably mediocre static aircraft and ship modeller and have experience of r/c aircraft but not yet r/c boats. I'm keen to soak some information in on that though. I'm also interested in quietly reading some of the great information on here about some smaller coastal-type craft as well.

Best regards,

Jamie

Welcome - Where about in the shire are you ?

Aberdeen has an active model boat club - and there is a group which race model yachts near Peterhead

Tarlair model boat club is long gone - but people keep getting told about it, travelling to Macduff only to find the poor state of Tarlair pool.

Hi,

I'm about 25 miles almost due north of Aberdeen. Technically a Turriff post code but equidistant from Fyvie, Methlick and New Deer, and probably a bit closer to Ellon than to Turriff!

The Aberdeen Model Boat Club - is probably your best bet http://www.aberdeenmodelboatclub.org/index.html  (e-mail aberdeenmbc@live.co.uk)

Just got back into modelling after a long hiatus - but not making much progress as I am away a lot for work

Tarlair is still used when its clean enough , the lads go down most Sunday mornings in the summer , some lads go down to the Lido at Peterhead and sail their boats in the sea , nothing much else north side of Aberdeen though.
Alex Oldman from MacDuff is the man to get hold of for Tarlair ( on facebook https://www.facebook.com/alex.oldman.3 ) and there is a model group https://www.facebook.com/groups/215214312614184/ , Alex and the a few of the NE guys will be down at Fleetwood over the weekend so best trying him after Tuesday
