My new hobby is cursed.......
« on: August 07, 2018, 03:30:06 pm »

For various reasons I need a new hobby so as Ive always liked model making and boats I decided to make a RC boat, nothing fancy to begin with just a boat.

So I ordered a motor/jet assembly and when it finally arrived it was defective possibly the consequence of being carried out of China on a Camel train.  I'm still trying to sort it out with the supplier.

Today my transmitter/receiver turned up  the box looks a bit worse for wear but everything seemed fine until I picked up  the transmitter and found there is something loose and clattering around inside it.  Another one to sort out.

But don't start, I've had lots of perfectly good items from China.

I've probably bought hundreds and hundreds of pounds worth of stuff from China and never had a duff item yet.
Reading the experience of others, I guess i'm just lucky O0

It does seem to depend on who you buy from and of course the item may be fine when it leaves China and gets damaged en route although that can happen just as easily with couriers delivering UK sourced (but probably made in China) items.

Dare say it was dropped a few times as they threw it from hand to hand as it made its way along the wall.
Sorry, just couldn't resist it.

Cursed, Nonsense!

You ordered from China for a new experience and lo-and -behold some damage occured or it was just crap in the first place.

...There are such good companies fighting for your trade in the UK as far as model boats are concerned as a hobby I see little reason to go abroad, particularly as a beginner.

Strike it up to experience I guess.
