She broke her moorings during photo shoot and a greater power intervened! {-)

Seeing it beside your hand to give it some scale makes your work even more impressive.

Very impressive indeed. Very much like the real deal. Looks just like you could just motor on board!

The m/s Visby has been in service for some time now and the first issue occurred the other day. The forward ramp wouldn't close properly and I thought it was because the wooden structure had expanded due to high temp and moisture. When I tried to fix it using a file I managed to break the eyelet on the pushrod connection on the visor...I then realised that the problem with the ramp was in fact rust! The pin for the hinges on the ramp had rusted ( no:2 )and got stuck and therefore broke loose one of the hinges ( no:1 ) making the ramp close twisted. So now I had two problems to fix, and away from home!

Using what I could find I set out to fix the faults. First I put some rust solvent on the rod and carefully knocked it out.

I found a piece of brass rod on a tool for cleaning nozzles on windscreen wipers that was a perfect fit for the  hinge ,and after gluing the hinge back the ramp was fixed.

I then had to fix the eyelet on the visor and I have no soldering equipment where I am now. I cut a piece of isolation from an electric wire, taped it to the arm with a thin piece of masking tape and then put superglue to the whole thing making it solid. Visor fixed and everything back in working order!

Well done! To improvise is half the art when it comes to "repair under despair"  :-))

Here are some pictures of a somewhat rough crossing.

Hello John!
If you mean the place I sail it's on a small island on the Swedish east coast where my father in law has a house. We usually go there on vacation and I always bring a boat or two.
All the best
