what type of solder
Geoff:
I'm looking for a solder that will withstand long term exposure to 230 degrees centigrade.
Is there anything that would melt at about 330 C or am I just into the realms of silver solder?
Cheers
Geoff

Hi Geoff, have a look at Bernzomatic lead free solder 430 deg from Screwfix.

I would definitely use silver solder for this joint if possible. The higher the silver content percentage in the solder the easier it is to use.
Geoff:
Thank you for the feedback. I checked on the screwfix solder and apparently the melting point is 430 F and not Centigrade
Okay, if I silver solder what is best and what flux should I use? The joint will be very small a 4mm brass tube into a small block of brass.
Cheers
Geoff

Cupalloy do a couple of low silver (1.5%) silver solders with a 305 degree melting point, fluxed or solid to suit the work. I've used it on low pressure parts of a steam setup and it flows quite nicely. :-))
