2d paper plans to 3d car or mesh model?

Depends what you want to do?
Currently converting 2D paper plans of 'Hood' into 3D CAD just to see how it looks and how and where I can fit stuff, like batteries, turrets, propshafts etc. It is good for stuff like that but it does take a lot of work to get it right, so be warned.

I managed to go from half a dozen measurements and a bunch of photos to a 3d CAD model, so I dont see a problem, if you have sections all you need to do is move them to the correct frame position, then its just dot to dot.

Level/degree of accuracy is my main concern. Scaling up from 1/400 scale drawings to 1/72 scale drawings caused no end of discrepancies against the correct dimensions of the real thing. I have got a bit OCD regarding accuracy for 'Hood'. Yes, could have easily got frames drawn and lofted on CAD in a matter of hours but not to the accuracy I wanted. Hence the extra hours put in to get it correct.
But the huge advantage with CAD is you can 'see' how it will look, you can move stuff around, you can 'virtually' build it with no expense, mistakes corrected, modifications made......limitless.......👍
