I love the look of that flare in photo 2 Reply 15! Beautiful.

Whilst in no way the same as regards quality or type of timber. I am using cocktail sticks for the spars and masts on my Tudor era fleets, and you have to sort the straight grained ones out from the gash ones as I agree there is a  marked difference in strength.

Your work is excellent as ever  :-))

Hi there, thank you Neil,   1-  Actually at the start of this post I typed in the wrong numbers of this motor, she is a MFA 960 re800 red 2:1 belt drive , I got a bit slack with the last few builds , I didn't make my own life rings these are bought ones .  2 & 3-  Wiring up the gear before installing it.   4-  Glueing all her windows in.  5  &  6-  The garden shed comes in handy for spraying the last anti fouling coat.  7-  Ready to start fitting all the bits n pieces.  8-  Making the trawl boards for the 2 models ...Cheers

All of your boats are excellent however this one really does it for me. Classic lines, great gantry and primo woodwork. My favourite so far.

Hi there ,thanks guys, i enjoyed building this one, these last lot of photos taken at the local club meeting at Ballina, she looked and ran nice, a couple of little teething problems, one was the steering (was running true on the bench ) and the Lipo battery has had its day (new one since these photos taken ) but otherwise she looked good just like the original back in our home port of Brunswick Heads in the early 1980's,cheers... :-))

Always following on BB...... :-)) .....in the original vessel, was the prawn cooker heated by the engine exhaust, or did the tank have a few electrical immersion heaters?...as the water must be on the boil for the prawns?

[many years ago we watched the Illawarra Star motor into Wollongong harbor, berth... then unload approx 75 of those NSW Government Fisheries 25 kg capacity blue plastic boxs of cooked prawns .. :P

[~~75 x 25 x $25.00/kg = ~~ just about $47 thousand retail.....]

Now I don't want to start a discussion on the profitably of fishing {or the days when they came home empty} ....but it was an eye opener for a good days catch  O0

Hi guys thanks for the comments through out the postings, about the prawn cookers, pretty sure he was using LPG not Diesel ( the last cooker we had was diesel), I doubt very much about the $25 per Kg for landed prawn, the retailer was probably getting those prices and above very rare the actual fisherman  (unless around Christmas) ???.No never got into weathering my models, as with the real deals we were always trying to eradicate any weathering that appeared, so it goes against the grain to make them sad and sorry looking, but I must admit some of the  weathering I have seen is absolutely brilliant and others seem to go overboard on it (like when I use the chain saw I don't know when to stop) and with the latter if they were real vessels you would need a tetanus shot before stepping aboard them , Cheers Guys  :-))
