I went to Deans Marine site, but could not find her.

Is it an older model. ?  I would be interested in her size as well, and also some details about her, including the price.

hi there she is big about 160 cms or 63" she only just fit in to a mondeo . She listed on deans web site under merchant ships for wait for it special price of £625, normally she over £715 + all the rest. I am modifying her as she was brought second hand on ebay. put the best props on .prop shop props 5 blades 55mm this gives me some stopping if i need it. Fitted the second bow thruster this helps alot especially in the wind. going to change the motors to graunper 720 when my local model shop gets them (howes). Staring on that big rear door it has 10 hinges which i will make from brass so the door can be lowered. all so got some new rudders for her the robbe Becker rudders to be fitted . this should help her on windy days. slowly working through the rest. haven decide on weather to fit lights yet. She sails very well ,sail her up on ranock moor in the Scottish highlands once ,it was choppy and harsh but she handled it OK very stable surprising considering her beam

hi all well here's an up date. The base for the hinge is made and in of there is a good strong secure base for the hinge. The big hinge is made what a job that was 21 parts oh joy. The second hinge on the top of the ramp is in. Started to put in the hydraulics ram in . Next up is to make a Linnear actuator to move the rams. Will up date when that done but if any one has an idea all welcome.

hi all been a while since an update . The door had a far bit of detailing done on it. Put in the supports for the lower car deck Could not resist putting in a few Lorry's to see how it  would look. Got all the steering gear to fit not a lot of room down there below the car deck.

Very daring to do such a lot of work on a second hand model, looking very good!
How do you match up the paint?

hi all . The car deck is in. A new ramp to the upper deck was put in. The dividing wall that splits the car deck in 2 has been modified so now that its splits in two, because when its in it sits above the port rudder shaft making it impossible to remove the rudder. Got the hydraulic ram in just got the one on starboard to go. Stared to do some detailing work on the wall. Made up to smaller ramps to bridge the gap of the main ramp hinge. Stared to paint the deck a nice dark grey . Now i am working on the hatch in the car deck that gets access to the rudder arms . going to have to make this water tight.

Hi John,

What motors are you using in such a big vessel?

Hi martin. I am using the now no longer available protech 720 BB torque.
They run on 12 v driving a 50mm 5 blade prop shop prop.
To say it has a lot of power is an under statement.

hi ghost . the trucks are 1:87 and the cars are 1:72. She is 1:100 so i know there wrong. I have found a guy in Japan that sell 1:100 car foe a cheep price so i will put those on the top deck. As for the trucks i found one at 1:100 and it was one of those model that they use on on a building model to show how it would look and was not very nice and was very expensive. I still trying to find 1:100 trucks but no joy. But saying that revell and hobby link Japan do 1:87 RC trucks . I think it would look cool to see her lower her rear ramp on to a dock then have a truck drive off. hope fully in a week should have the lower car deck done.

well heres an update . Finished the rams at the rear ,so thats the lower car deck done. Rub the hull down for painting and did not like the way she flexed so ripped up all the decks and the supports as the previous owner had not put in enough support. Have started to put in new supports once thats done a new one piece deck will go down there she get repainted.

I'm guessing it's a large geared screw jack?

cos918, how well you disguised it into hydraulic cylinders!! Looks super! A funny thing is that on the boat that I work we have much the same actuators for controlling rpm and fwd/rev on the main engines. I took apart one that was replaced, still have the motor, some metal gears and a shaft from it.
