Well a fair bit has happened.
Got the lights in on number 3 deck and made the lights up for number 2 deck.
well the frame/lift is made . Now I have to make a Linear actuator to push it. Once this has been made and tested and the whole thing works ,only then can I paint it and put the plastic card around it.

Hey John,
Great build. I have a concern on your build. I saw you used expanding foam in your hull. I have seen in a couple rc boat that used that foam explode when the sun hits the ship. That foam expands when the ship gets hot from warmer weather even if its dry. You might think about removing it from the bow section which is fully sealed. Its such a nice ship I would hate for something bad to happen. I know some of the warship in the US have tried expanding foam with damaging results. I just wanted to bring it to your attention. :-)

Best Regards,
Sean

Hi Sean. I have heard about this , So there is a 10mm  air cap between the top of the foam and the deck hope fully should be enough. She sit next to a window in the work shop and there has been no effect yet.

Here's the actuator that will power the lift. Still have to connect the motor and set it up.

Outstanding work so far, working lights and ramps, the whole nine yards!

Are you gonna put in a working miniature bar for all those thirsty travellers?   ok2

Tryed the  motor gearbox in the hull. The snakes must be tighter due to bendsin the hull not incountered on the bench test. the motor did not move the lift at all, gutted after all the work. Never mide. I have ordered two bigger motors/gearboxs from china via ebay.
More coffee thanks she will have 100s of LED by the time I am finished with her.

Dale thanks for the kind words.

Lift on hold till motors turn up about 20 day from now.So have turned my atachion to her main crane. As it is a small crane I dont know if it is worth bothering with motors on it. I will build it so it can be adapitaed later ie it will turn and lift by hand.

John I don't know how I managed to miss this build thread - very interesting and must say you are doing a
great job on what appears to be a complication with the stern ramps and lift.

Thanks Geoff
The ramp works fine ,its got a slight bow in it so I might rebuild it out of brass and copper clad pcb. The lift has hit a stop now untill I can try new more powerfull motors that are on there way.

Life is all done and painted with lights in .
If the weather is good on sunday hope to do a quick sea trill to check stabilty , balast req , new motors, new rudders and second bow thruster. If all works as hope then I can crack full steam on with her build.

Hello
Sea trials happend to day.  The protec 720 motor worked perfectly . The beckker rudders make her swing  very tightly. The second bow thruster adds a hell of a lot more turn. She can now turn a full 360 in about 12 secs. I tryed her on both 12v and 6v. 12v is abit to powerfull especially in close quater manovering. 6V better for close quater manovering .
There is a small water leak on the bow thruster some resin shold fix that. I need 12v for lights and smoke genrator and a max of 7.2v on the bow thruster . I am going to do another sea trial  with 7.2v on the main motors. I am looking at ditching the SLA as the are heavy 12V 3ah 1.3kg 11.1v lipo 4000mah 300 g big saving meaning i can but in more weight low down. She need  bilge keel fitted hopfull this will help redue the role.
Going to have a rethink on other working feathers as they add weight.

John...your Celestine looks great on the water :-)).......and from the images it was a very clam day without much wind

You are certainly correct that repositioning the alternate batteries will lower the metre centric point of balance [lower pendulum effect] this will also reduce the speed of roll and visually improve stability...if I read correctly by going to lipo's you will actually increase your current capacity by 33% but reduce weight by a staggering 1000g :o

The above water hull is high in surface area so will be subject or sensitive to windage roll......post more images of her second sea trials.......Derek
