Rudder Linkage?
« on: November 19, 2007, 02:04:40 pm »

As a first timer with R/C boats, I am slowly getting to grips with averything but need to ask about the steering linkage.

The Caldercraft kit I have of the SS Talacre has a white-metal arm that sits ontop of the rudder post.  I gues this is then somehow linked to a similar arm on the servo - correct?

My question is where can I get relacement steering arms as I would like to get better then white-metal and are ther commercially available parts for making the seering linkage and if so where from.

Any advice would be very much appreciated

I have used the pins recovered fron dead 13amp plugs for quite some time.  Just a bit of work with a small drill and a big file, and you have a nice brass arm with a brass screw.  Sailing in salt water like I do, this is a valid consideration, a steel tends to rust solid on the way down to the pond.
Most model shops stock plastic arms with a brass bush and a grub screw.

Hi there Billyruffian

If you have a look at the topic below, we discussed different types of rudder making/linkages in this topic.

If the link doesnt work for you, have a look for the topic headed '100th scale rudders'.

Hope this is of some help to you.
