Greeting from Shanghai

Thanks Martin and the Mods for all your efforts this year. May you have a more tranquil 2008  :D ;)

Merry Christmas to everyone else on here, be they in Europe, Africa, The Americas, Asia or Australasia.
And I hope we are all given many more teddies to throw out of our prams, so Martin can put them back in. LOL

Hope to see some of you in January.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to one and all.

And a very Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year, from me down here in Australia. Just spare us poor Aussies a thought when all you northern hemisphere lot are trudging through the snow, and ice, and slush, and rain :'(. We'll have to put up with sun, surf, sand - and 30+ degree heat O0
Thanks to everyone who gave advice and/or assistance during the year, it was much appreciated.
Best wishes to all,
Peter

Cheers Peter, just got back from 2weeks in the Canaries, shorts an flip flops 7am to7pm every day, searing temperatures(to us anyway). Illuminated Christmas trees and reindeers all over the place, but it doesn't SEEM like Chrissy unless your wet through and freezing you bits off!
        Best wishes from up here.

Hi circlip, it does seem rather ridiculous that Christmas trees, reindeer, holly and fake snow are everywhere here, and the temperature is in the 30s. I suppose it is a legacy of the early settlers who came from the northern hemisphere, and the tradition was carried on by their descendants. For many years, Christmas dinner was a huge hot meal of roast turkey or chicken, with baked vegetables, at least in our family. In recent times that has been changed to sliced ham, cold roast chicken or turkey, and salad, far more appropriate to our climate, and less demanding on the kitchen staff ;) Many Christmas cards however, still show snow covered landscapes. ??? We live about 400 metres from the beach, and snow is in July to September - about 1200km south of us  (photos attached - we even have blue skies in the snow!) {-)
All the best,
Peter.
