We johnny's Super dooper Springer
« on: December 15, 2007, 08:13:03 pm »

     ...Hi Guys...

I feel a wee competitiuon coming on...

See who can build a working springer type tug from the most unusual source of recycling...

I have just finished a bigger pusher tug for Wee Johnny using the plywood that I got from an old wardrobe that someone had put on the rubbish pile behind our house...

It could be a good bit of fun to see what gets recycled into Springer Material...

I can just picture the scene on Christmas Morning..."We will have to go to mums Today for Christmas Dinner, ...The Dining Table has Gone Missing"....

Come on Guys...Get Thinking & Building...Maybe Mayhem could sort out a prize...

             ...Hi Again Guys...

Here is a picture of Wee Johnny,s Super Springer type tug...

Hull made from plywood taken off an old wardrobe...The Deckhouse was taken off another boat that i had built earlier & found to be top heavy...  Still to be named "TIBER 65"    I hope you like it...

              ...Best Regards...Norry...

Hello Banjo, it looks like an adulterated CalMac logo off the West coast ferries. I beileve they dervied their  logo from the former railway steamers although the railway steamers were indirectly owned initially.  Look at www.calmac.co.uk with Norrys' initials added to make it distinctive. But I'm sure Norry did the graphics himself so as not to plagarise. That  is my story and I'm sticking to it m'lud

cheers

Jim

p.s. it is also helpful if you make your own fleet logo just in case of theft. I'd doubt that they  tkke the time and effort to change these small emblems.

A very handsome and handy boat it looks too.

               ...Hi Guys...

It is just a wee Scottish sticker that i bought in a wee Scottish sticker shop...It has a Lion Rampant in it...I suppose it does look a bit like a Cal-Mac Ferry Badge...

I usually use the Scottish Saltire with my initials on it for a logo but i didn,t have any at the time so i just put these on instead...

If it upsets anybody then all i can say is,,,,A Big Boy Did It & Ran Away...

It is only a fun boat for my son to play with....

I like the squared-off lines of the hull Norry, it might be less prone to submarining.  Predictable "Rangers" colour scheme, BTW the lums dinnae match!  Bow-thruster tube from denture cleaning tablets ?  Nice job awragither, a real Clyde Spinger.

         ...Hi Guys...

Arrow5...You have 24 hours to apologise for the statement about the colours...Just because it is blue I,m a Rangers Fan...I see no red on the boat...Wee Johnny & Myself are both Kilmarnock Fans although we spend our Saturday Afternoons Following my local Amateur Team Called Knockentiber who just happened to be formed in 1965...Hence the name still to be added "TIBER 65"...There colours are the same as Killie....Blue & White....

If no apology comes forth I shall remove you from my christmas card list...If i can find it...

This tug is actually a lot bigger than a Springer She is 24 " x 10 " with an 80 mm Steerable Kort Nozzle...
She is very manouverable...Ideal for Johnny competing in Steering & Docking competitions next year...
She can also pull like buggery...

The Bow Thruster is a working Bow Thruster from Raboesch...Its actually a bit rubbish as it stops working if you use it too much due to it heating up...It then starts working again after it has cooled down a bit...It does tell you this on the package but i fitted it first then read the instructions...I will probably change it before the season kicks off...

Right thats my grumping over for the day...I,ll away & get ready for the Clubs AGM this afternoon...

Time 10am, just time to throw myself on the ground in grovelling posture to avoid the shame of one less Xmas card arriving and humble myself and admit to absolute ignorance of the game(?) of soccer :embarrassed: :'(. Must admit to a little cheer when local team beat a visiting big bhoys team from the south last weekend. Yur colours are OK by me, nae complaint about my orange livery on my Springer then ?  Hope Killy and the Tibers do well in the kick-ba` scene for you and Johnny and we can arrange a Springerball event next year, no extra points for correct colours(is there a team with Rusty Stoor & Illie Puffer Black strips?)   Sorry if I mis-identified the tug as a Springer, the angles would have made an even easier design for them. Geez 10-18 am, missed the deadline, slow typing. As you say, awrrabest, to you and yours. :-X

         ...Hi arrow5...Duncan...

"Atsnaeborraduncanbithiway"    "Thats No Problem Duncan"...is the translation for those of you who cant use Glasgow speak...

As for the Fotball Colours I have now seen it all...There is a team currently playing in Holland whose strips are Pink & Blue Stripes...I saw their strip the other day whilst Wee Johnny was looking for a new strip for his Birthday...

Both johnny & myself are looking forward to a Springer Get Together Next Year...Whether it is in Scotland or England...He doesn,t mind whose pond he falls into...There must be hundreds of Springers by now...

The "Tiber" are still going strong in this years Scottish Amatuer Cup...We might even draw a team from up your way Duncan...If so we would definately bring some boats with us....

...Wishing You & Yours A Merry Christmas And A Very Prosperous New Year...

...All The Best...Norry & Wee Johnny...

                   ...Hi Guys...

Due to a change of plans this boat is no longer for sale... It will be used for single screw tug-towing & steering & docking...

I have spent the last couple of days building a new deckhouse & wheelhouse for it...

I will post pictures of the new sooper dooper impressive tug when i get new batteries for my camera....

fill in the scratches but leave the dents, in fact work the dents to make them into the sort of abuse ane and batter that a real boat will aquire
