Quick Hints & Tips!
« on: January 26, 2008, 06:28:00 pm »

Hi  :)
Thought I would start a hints and tips thread for any idea which would be handy to know.

1.  Reversing into the dark and your reversing light are not up to scratch .Turn on your rear fog lamps to give you more light behind you. If this isn't any better feather your footbrake turning on the brake lights or use all 3. It works for me.  O0

2. if you run your modelling knife down some emery/sand paper on the back of the blade at an angel. This removes the tip of the the knife giving you a new edge on the point on your blade. Works for me.  O0

3. Some candle wax on a stubborn saw will help ease the cutting. Works for me.  O0

4. Stuck finders with super glue. Start moving your fingers in a rolling action , use your other hand to assist. Never try to pull them apart. Works for me.  O0

Please feel free to submit  any of your hints n tips, appreciated.

Spray the underside of your hover mower with WD40 and the grass comes off a treat.

Don't use vinger or meths to clean your car windows. This attacks the sealer in the new windows of todays cars. This did work for me and cost a new windshield.

Do not EVER consider taking up modelling (apart from Page 3) as it will become more addictive than ....well. words both fail me and would be moderated anyway.

Don't wash the car/motorbike with washing up liquid.

Some contain salt and other chemicals that can promote rusting and tarnishing.

Don't leave your torch switched on and put it down on its face. By the time you need it again the batteries will be flat. Oh yes !!

When turning round on country lanes - always keep the driving wheels of your vehicle on the tarmac - unless of course you have a 4x4.

No matter how tightly you screw on the cap of a tube of epoxy resin glue, the resin will manage to crawl out when you aren't looking and spread itself where it will make the maximum amount of mess.

When hammering nails into thin wood (shiplap) and you think the nail will split the wood.Turn the nail over tap it on the point to blunt it ,then hammer it into the wood.

Collect junk that will come in handy - store it for twenty years - then give it away when someone wants something. %%
That's what I seem to do a lot of.

Before spending 20 minutes on your hands and knees looking for the part that fell off your workbench, check your turn-ups or in your shoes.

Yep, me too.

Also, don't solder near fresh superglue.

Superglue is good for small cuts / abrasions but don't-half sting for a bit!

Superglue was invented in 1942 originally invented for clear bomb sights but it was discovered as a bonding agent that stuck everything together,it was used intensly in the vietnam war as a form of instant plaster.

When selecting a dog as a pet, ensure the dogs tail is not at the right height to catch you in the gentleman's region when wagging

When applying Deep Heat or any similar pain reducing cream to any part of the body, always...but always, wash your hands before going to the heads to take a pee.

It don't half make you hop about if you don't, I can assure you...   :o
