Well 2757 is 90% complete and she had her 2nd proper outing on Thursday. She has not had her bottome wet since Beale Park last year so it was off to the lake with in trepidation.

Unfortunately did not manage to get the smoke unit working as well.

All seemed OK, but your posts to the video will no doubt tell me.

Hopefully will have the batteries recharged for Mayhemers weekend, they don't last long.

Any advise on increasing playing time greatfully appreciated.

Very impressive model Simon.

Though you might want to put your Union Jack up the right way instead of upside down ;D

looks and sounds great simon, what battery packs are you using? maybe you could add a few more packs and run in parallel to add to the runtime?.either that or stick a strimmer motor in it then you can play all day  ;D.a bit more relaxing than the makara i bet though, stunning boat you have there im gonna have to build me a bigger pt boat and put a petrol motor in it,the small one i built for my son is going great still with the old 540 car motor in it.

Richard ;)

Pehaps he was in a bit of distress (the meaning for when flying the flag inverted)
stress /distress similar both a worry and with a model out on open water then there is always the worry stress etc....

Great model fantastic video footage

Well done

Cheers Colin

Small video camera with 9v battery pluged into 2.4g transmitter, again 1 9v battery

On shore a 2.4 receiver plugged into a MP4 player, like an ipod but for video with a small sceen, 2 gig card a press record. When you get home plug into computer and copy files, as you do with a normal stills camera.

From  memory a signal cannot be transmitted through water, not alot of good with a sub, what i have seen is a lead running from the sub attached to a floating arial on the surface and then back to the base station

There was a guy with a sub on Super models that had three cameras working like that?

Hi folks,
how I love to see photos of RAF craft.  Having served on them I suppose I have an affinity for them.  The 1:12th scale model looks superb on the water and if her builder would allow me to offer a couple of comments.  A common mistake is the sick bay entrance doors on the aft side of the superstructure.  Although double, the starboard door was narrower than the port side one (approx half the width).  The design being that for normal duty only the narrow door would be used but when moving a stretcher case below both could be opened giving unrestricted access and allowing the metal feet on the stretcher to slide down the brass channels which were set into the top of the companionway  handrail. Other common faults are the spacing of the windows both in the superstructure and the engine room coach roof, and the side profile of the actual superstructure which tapered down both fore and aft from the open flying bridge, but, in lots of models this is flat. I am attaching some pics which should clarify these points.

Keep up the good work.

Hello, I have been looking at building the same RTTl in 1/12 scale, I have a smaller set of plans which I have considered enlarging or drawing out direct onto the ply.
Could you supply the company that cut ply formers.

Thank you

WOW! that is some post resurrection!

Anyway getting your frames cut or a supplier of said parts? Its a little difficult to understand which you actually meant.

There are several ways to get them lasercut - I would do it for you if I resided in the UK, however. you need to have the frames scanned and to the correct scale - with a ruler included on the scan helps along with a note as to the overall scale. Its then just a question of importing your drawing, a jpg or pdf will work, tracing your image to the correct scale in a drawing program then exporting this to a laser to cut them out.

There is a retailer in Scotland that will do this for you but the name escapes me. I'm sure others will be able to give various names that will do it for you (at a cost) I have no idea of who would actually have them on the shelf so to speak. Otherwise scale them up on a photocopier, glue the paper to plywood and cut them out on a bandsaw and fretsaw/vibrosaw.

SLEC UK do CAD service and cutting service...... not used them for either but they are one of the best for modeling timbers and their service so far has been A+. May be worth giving them a call and see what they can do for you.
