I don't think the Wicksteed Gazebo will be available this year but i hope to borrow another one from someone.
Anybody else got room for a garden gazebo in the back of their car?   ;)

Is anyone coming from the Felixstow / Ipswich area please?

I am negotiating the purchase of some back issues of Model Boats and the postage has alarmed me.

We are talking back issues for up to five years. You can imagine how heavy they might be.  I would willingly reimburse you for your trouble, and I might let you drive 'Red Pelican'   {-)

Thanks for reading

Hi, Brian
I have 2 x 6ft tables, metal legs and frames, they can take a lot of weight, I'll bring them as well (I'm gonna need a bigger roof rack / caravan !)

As the weather will be great, we'll have a Bar B Q Saturday evening. We'll bring the disposable Bar B Q's you bring your own stuff to cook.

Also if you have anything you want to Sell, Swap or Give Away, bring it along and you never know your luck... especially old Model Boat mags.... bagsy first dibs!  8)

PS. Guy...... how does anyone actually "work" for a toy company?!?  ;)

I have just phoned Wicksteed to book my camping space for the weekend. Spoke to George, who said that camping has been delt with by the boat club, so I just need to turn up and claim my space (so no money has changed hands) Do we think this is all OK. How is everyone else getting on with booking their camping spot ??

Phil
That is strange as I have just spoken to George and he is sending me a booking form to camp for that night, last year they did it over the phone with a credit card. :-\ :-\

Hi Brian
Have just spoken to George, I think I have it sorted now. He will be sending me a camping booking form (I'm sure it was easier last year) many thanks.
Almost time to start counting down-------

Just an update of what going on at “Mayhem at Wicksteed II”:

Bring a boat, have a sail...... well that it basically!  ;)

Also:

1. The weather has been carefully chosen and booked… you’ll just have to wait and see!

2. A model boat swap meet / bring & buy sale, especially your old mags that are far too expensive to post.

3. Slots throughout both days for free running and slots for the lifeboats boys, steam, warships, MTB's etc,
tugs,  steam, fast electrics, yachts, nosey beats, etc. etc. If you want a slot, just PM me.

4. I've asked Steam boat Phil to arrange a straight running competition for straight runners AND radio controlled
modellers that also want a go, ( we'll work out the rules on the day but we might just break your rudder thumb!  ;)  )

5. Springers will be the comedy turn again this year. Featuring: Springer Football, Springer barge bulling, Springer tug
towing and Springer ‘Sheep dog trails’!!!

6. Last year I got the steering course right round me neck so this year I've asked the Wicksteed MBC to make up and
put out some simple obstacles for us based on plastic 15mm plumbing and pipe lagging. Obstacles such as a big cross
with coloured sectors, a narrow channel only anchored on one corner and a touch post. The steering course will therefore
consist of a set of instructions not a map. ( If anyone else has ideas for quickly deployed 15mm pipe lagging obstacles that
they would like to construct and bring along on the weekend , please post a reply here ). There will be incredibly cheapskate
prizes on offer for the best & worst  interpretation of the instructions.

7. If enough people turn up  with fast electric boats, we’ll organise some sort of handicap race for you.

8. Evening sale with lights - with Ghosty at the helm.

9. Hanna will be picking her favourite boat of the day again, and we’ll also a “Mayhemers boat of the day” too, again an
incredibly cheap award.

10. We'll have our PA again this year, (free ear plugs on offer), and hopefully a proper radio mic so I can come right up
and give you a right friendly interrogation while you're trying to concentrate on something quite dangerous!

11. All model boat traders / manufactures / shops / vendors etc are invited to attend Free of Charge. Same rules as last
year, show your products, take orders, fulfil orders but no direct trading around the lake please. ( Please let me know of
the tent space requirements by PM ).

12. Also, any clubs or associations that will be bringing tents / gazebos / tables, please let me know (by PM)  of your
space requirements. I’ll also make up some display labels for any boats that you want to display, available as a download
here soon or available on the weekend, ( just name of boat, owner, club, any details you wish to share about the boat, etc.)
If you have room for portable / paste table etc. in your car, please could you bring one with you.

13. I’m not going to get the caps or Mayhem merchandise done in time for ‘Mayhem at Wicksteed’, but you could  make
your own… I might buy one of you! ( Gucci 17.5 inch regular fit shirt for me! )  there will be award for the best and tackiest
Mayhem Logoed item – chosen by Little Miss Mayhem!

14. Mrs Mayhem has agreed to do the tea & coffee again this year, (only just finished paying her for last years efforts).
Bar B Q in the evening, we’ll bring along a few disposable Bar B Q again. (Mrs Mayhem is bring along a big pot of curry for
me and Bradders… but you can’t have none, health and safety and all that! But we’ll eat it right in front of you so at least
you can enjoy the beautiful smell of a true home made Caribbean curry and fresh baked bread … Mmmmmm!

15. There will be a couple of better prizes such as a Slipway RTTL kit and a Protech Yacht in competitons yet to be thought of!  :o

16. Anything else I missed or you think is a good idea?

Thanks & Regards,
Martin – http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php
