Birch Ply problem
« on: April 11, 2008, 07:53:42 pm »

Hi has anyone had any issues with birch ply delaminating. I got a few sheets of 1/8th and It virtualy peels apart without any provocation. I also got some 1/16th but thats perfect.  Have I just got a few bad sheets ? as its only the 1/8th its happening with.

I got it from Inwood so it would be a pain to send back, I have glued most pieces back together but its a nightmare to cut without it commoing apart  >:(

The stuff from a local MS is great butin very short supply..and I wait weeks at time for them to get it in.

Yep -me too - got a sheet of 1/8th from Inwoods a couple of weeks ago (together with a load of liteply which is fine) and it too is delaminating.  I only found out about it yesterday - a complaining letter to Inwoods is needed I think  >:(

I know sending it back would be a pain. But possibly easier than trying to fix it.

Also I am guessing that the supplier will quickly become aware fo the problem. If this is the case they may not need to have the old back and you can just ask them to send a new sheet.

If they do need it back then ask them to refund postage.

As Don has said, it is best to take it up with the supplier first.

Give them a ring (they are closed Saturday after 12) and explain the problem I've always found them amenable and co-operative. Gave me my money back on a switch I bought which was he wrong item with no prompting. Never had a problem with ply though.

Cheers

They are sending me some to replace the sheets I can't use.. again something I did'nt expect !  :)
