Come on then, tell us about the Excavator, it looks like a working hydraulic model!?

Nice Traxxas Villain, is it as fast as this one?

Yes  the excavator uses a hydraulic system. The cogwhell pump is driven by a 500 motor and sets all components to 10 bar of hydraulic pressure. There are 3 hydraulic gliders to lift and lower the arm, and they got some nice ability to lift and dig in the sand.

The top of the excavator can turn cw or ccw in 360° angels all controlled by a ESC. Both driving belts are driven by two independent speed 500 motors through 2 ESC.
So the control and handling of the model is pretty much the same as of 1:1 excavator.

All is made in aluminium and with a million screws.

Battery is 10 x 1.2/3300 mAh (12V) which makes the model operational at aprox. 1-3 hours.

To controll the hydraulic movements, there is a tiny valve block with 3 mikro servos installed. This enables a linear movement of the gliders at any speed controlled by the servos. The hydraulic pump runs on same speed and pressure all the time, but I installed a electronic switch inside to stop the pump when hydraulic movements are not needed. Just to increase the lifetime of the pump.

Next question - where did you get the hydraulic pump, actuators valve block etc from?

Question

With hydraulics at 10 bar is there any kind of safety circuit if it bursts a pipe?

Hi
Didn't make any internal photo as all is so compact that you can't see anything in detail anyway.

The pump is here :
http://www.leimbach-modellbau.de/HydrPump.html

Valves here :
http://www.leimbach-modellbau.de/Steuerventile.html

Actuators here :
http://www.leimbach-modellbau.de/Zylinder.html

Its all included in the kit:
http://www.leimbach-modellbau.de/Kettenbagger.html

Prises are here:
http://www.leimbach-modellbau.de/phppreisliste.php
only 3.350 Eur for the excavator, thats a offer I couldn't resist  :D

There are not any safety cirsuit if a pipe burst. It will just empty the hydraulic oil somewhere until the pump runs empty. I did try that once  :embarrassed:

One of those or a derivative ie crane on a tug , barge (or even a Springer !) would be terrific, nice work TomDK :-))
