Has anyone done it, and can you tell me how to do it? Also can you wire two battery packs to one speed controller for longer run times. Any help will be appreciated.

What?  A bit more info?  Oh, OK then...

I use 4 x 500 series motors in my MTB, wired as pairs to 2 ESC's, powered by 2 gel cells (they're 6V each and I need 12V) in series.  In a year of running, I have had no problems with 2 motors from 1 ESC, just so long as the ESC can take the combined current draw of the 2 motors.  As for the batteries, I think you want to wire them in parallel for longer duration (=higher amp-hour) rather than in series for more power (= higher voltage).  There is another thread on here somewhere about batteries in parallel.  I've never needed to try it, so don't know.

As long as a single ESC will supply the current draw from both motors, sure, it'll work.  Connect the motors in parallel.  If they are counterrotating, that may not be (+ to +) and (- to -), but (+ to -) and (- to +)..  Oh, don't you just love confusing answers?

funny you should mention that but i have recentlt done similar with my yamato.

yes there are 4 motors here, but wiring is in two destinct pairs,  Inboard and Outboard.

you will also notice that I have used 240v 13a cable using the two main colours.

each of the esc's are wired in parrellel too off the main battery.  the choc-block in 0018 is the key to it all.  wired up yellow then blue / blue then yellow, which one is inboard and which one is outboard I can remember, as I didnt pay that much attention to it, I wired them up one by one, taking the in-board wires linking the two brown wires together and feeding them to the yellow wire of the esc, then repeating that with the blue wires of the esc. 

this was repeated for the two outboard motors in IDENTICAL method, the only difference being that the blue and yellow wires were rotated round in the choc bloc. despite this, yellow still went to brown, and blue still went to blue

Just be sure to fuse the speed controller lower than the capacity, just in case you stall both motors on the same speed controller by weed or something.

MSoniks do a twin motor speedo. Originally designed for electric 1\10th scale monster trucks which use 2 540 sized motors, it has been adapted for marine use. However, its quite expensive to buy.

Suppose i better take up gardening then, because the more i look at these pics of motors and esc's all wired up, the more confused i get. Maybe when i've been at it for 20 years it will seem very simple to me too. But this is my first build, and i'm not blessed with being a natural when it comes to electrics/electronics. Oh well, where's me spade>

For two batteries in parallel, wire +ve of battery #1 to +ve of battery #2 to ESC +ve, and wire -ve of battery #1 to -ve of battery #2 to ESC -ve. If fitting a fuse, fit in the +ve line between the ESC and the first battery .

 No motor should draw more that 3.5 amps at full power unless it is overloaded.

Slightly wrong there mate as some motors that I am running are drawing 25 to 30 amps, and the battery is 7.2 volt metal hydride type lasts for about thirty minutes, it depends what you are doing with them, if you are chugging along at scale speed yes could be true, but for straight out speed and grunt you can draw a hell of a lot more safely....
