I have a dilemma, what to build next. There are three boats in contention. The model needs to be a challenging build and possible to create a high enough quality that I can enter it in the Midlands Model Engineer competition in the autumn. The options are:
Brede Lifeboat
Pros:
I have the kit in 1/20th and its basic enough to be a challenge.
I have the information including plans for the prototype.
Would make an impressive model.
Cons:
Very detailed. Will be time-consuming to build to the standard I want.
Shoreham Pilot
Pros:
I have the kit in 1/20th and its basic enough to be a challenge.
It's a nice looking bat but less fiddly than the Brede.
Cons:
I have very little information (8 photos and very rough side plan). Judging by the lack of responses to my appeal in Mayhem, neither does anyone else.
Bantam tug
Pros:
Needs to be scratchbuilt which looks good for the judges.
Simple model which could be done in 1/12th
Plans are possibly available but wouldn't be difficult to create.
Easy to research. I have pictures and the prototype is easily available.
Useful rescue model on the water.
Cons:
Has been done -

Anyone want to vote for one of these ? Please don't suggest anything different as I've already done the narrowing down process. Time and skill are available. Cost won't be a problem for any of these either. Remember, this is for a glass case quality model I hope. I want the challenge of raising my standards.
Thanks
Phil
