Hi PMK
Thats the fuel I have been using. The yellow stuff is (i've been told) 80% Methanol 5% nitromethane and a 15% mix of castor and synthetic oils. The pink one is 10% nitro with the same reduction in methanol with the same % mix of oils.
We bought a gallon of each for the school's Formula Schools Cars last month, but they are a whole new box of frogs.

d-jana,

Also make sure you store your fuel above a concrete or steel floor
the methanol will suck in moisture through the container and
your engine will run like you are saying it runs............

Hi Roy,
if polythene is that hygroscopic It could explain a lot. The shed in which it is kept is very damp in the winter.
Thanks to all you guys out there I have at least got it running at peak throttle and ticking over, with a relatively smooth transition. It is still hunting, and will only run for a few seconds without the glow ignitor attached.
I have tried everything you have all suggested, learnt a lot, filled my classroom with blue smoke and a smell the extractor fans seem unable to shift (it's great). It only remains to get some new fuel at the weekend and try again next week.

THANKS TO YOU ALL
GARY

P.S. ignor the dodgy spelling I am mildly dislexic, much to the amusement of the kids when I write on the board.

YES::::::Come on FLJ, show us what we want!!!!!!!(planes I mean)..

Sorry, guys - it's a long long time since I designed a model aircraft kit, but if you can find any of the following still on the shelves then the model on the label was created chez moi:
Precedent Hi Boy, Hi Boy Turbo, Hi Fly, Fly Boy, Low Boy, Electra-Fly, Bi Fly, Bi Fly 25 (my favourite), Stampe SV4, Turbulent, T180, T240......and probably a whole load of others whose names escape me. BTW the cheesy names were NOT my idea!!
