Some my favourite things....
« on: July 01, 2008, 01:06:40 pm »

OK, not talking about the complete model boat.....

But what little , scenes, added interest, caricatures, 'wink at the observer', household objects used for something else, working features, outstanding workmanship have you seen on a model boat that stick in your memory?

I'll start the ball rolling, Mike Henton's open bridge Puffer with crew and all sorts of deck clutter that turned it into a "lived in and working boat."

Bernards Steam Launch takes some beating with all the added detail. My wife thought she was looking at a 1:1 scale till she saw the crew.

The detail work is exceptional. O0

It's nice to see a pic of Mike Henton after quite a few years.  He was the man to beat in the MPBA regattas of yesteryear.  Used to upset a few people by winning so often but as he said 'Don't get upset, just try harder to beat me'.

Nice one Mike, perhaps catch up with you some time. Hope you are doing ok...........pete...... O0 {-)

Yes, Mike is a great guy. Lots of practical advice.

I've never really been appreciative of weathering on models, maybe the finished article isn't normally realistic enough?

Mike Henton's puffer is absolutely stunning!
