SAILING ABROAD
« on: July 01, 2008, 08:54:02 pm »

I am travelling to France soon, what is the law as regards the frequencies we use here and is it legal to use them abroad without special permission?

I'm not much help Gary, I couldn't get the QE2 to answer my control inputs, she must have been on a different frequency  ;D

Seriously though, Roger-in-France should be able to answer Alan's question.

Peter.

Try this list here http://www.ukrcc.org/internat.html

or here http://www.rc-network.de/magazin/artikel_05/art_05-027/art_027-01eng.html

or here http://www.fai.org/aeromodelling/frequencies/

I do not know the accuracy of these tables, as in the first link for Sweden it does not list surface frequencies.
Also go by frequency and not channel numbers as these can vary between manufacturers....

Thanks for your efforts guys, but I am still none the wiser. I have emailed Roger in France but I think he is away himself, I know that our holidays clash.

I take boats and aeroplanes abroad either 27 or 40 meg for the boats and 35 for the planes. As all of the models are small (800mm) the boats are  usually sailed on campsite swimming pools and the planes on football pitches. I do have 2.4 but on my last enquiry this was not fully accepted in France yet.
Most Model Aircraft clubs are near airfields so if one is in the vicinity I would not fly but this has never happened yet.
I suppose I take pot luck but if in doubt the kit stays in the van.
We get situations at our local boating pool where people are trying to sail with people arround the larger lake on the car parks trying to control land vehicles on 27meg most have no comprehension of frequency clash, insurance etc etc.

Be careful in Germany. The bottom (lower) 2 or 3 frequencies in 40Mhz are for aircraft! A lot of the lower priced RTF models on sale at Dortmund this year were 40Mhz.

Cheers
