From our Welsh branch, Stavros....   ok2

The event is DEFIANTLY ON Having spoken today to the head warden of the park the alert level on the lake has been reduced from RED to AMBER.

What this means is simple......water sports can commence so we are in the clear,BUT if it is still on AMBER what has been recommended to me is for everyone who is handling the boats are to wear rubber cloves(OK NO JOKES)
THIS WILL BE A MANDATORY REQUIREMENT if it is on Amber there will be no EXCEPTIONS I really mean it,no yellow card on this one but a red card and home you will go.Make no mistake I am not joking, this stuff is not to be played with.Hopefully by then it will be 100% clear. If it is not an ALTERNATIVE venue is on the card albeit 15miles away but there will no camping there, but at least we could sail and that includes the IC BRIGADE.

More info will be posted soon

Thanks for your patience believe you me I have not slept proper]ly because of this

Right then here I am in the deepest of North Wales with that mad welshman, and no I haven't eaten my Kendal mint cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now enough of the funnies we, well I mean Stav and I, have been exploring the venue and have found a jem of a camp site, how we missed it last year we don't quite know, but we can safely accommodate 6 vans and 10 tents onto e Plato overlooking the village easily.Access to it is so easy ,pithing the tents with no probs.
The lake was in good condition with the lagoons clear of algae so it is all systems go go.
Traders and HQ will be situated in the central piatza(village green to Stav :-)))And this is where you will find the organisers in case of an emergency, normally in the corner rather worse for wear.
The omra/petrol heads have their own camping area, well we don't all want to stink of petrol do we!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA HA HA HA
Bill 203 as you will see has his own SPECIAL camp site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Need to know More then contact myself or Stav on his LLanberis email address.
Well thats all for now me going back to the beer ttfn

i would like to just say that if people attend this event it may be useful to have a container of clean tap water with you ! i may attend I'm unsure yet  !
if this is blue green algae its is deadly to animals (can cause death to a dog or sheep within 24hrs ! ) it can cause skin burns to human depending at what stage of bloom its at !
we have had major problems at trafford with this and even thou the count may be down on it now it can rebloom within 24hrs of warm weather too a highly toxic state (this is why the omra trafford race was taken to an alternative venue last year one week we got the go ahead the next it was so toxic it cause death to fish in the water it took nearly 3 months to sort it out properly ! )
whilst i don't know if any one has ever died of it, it can liver problems and make humans seriously ill . if you have young children please make sure they don't go near the water too !

I too have heard some horror stories regarding the Algae, i think its wise to use long arm length gloves if putting boats in the water and make sure the boats  are sprayed off with tap water after.... can this stuff be harmful to paintwork i wonder  :o

I don't possibly see how it could affect paintwork, just wear a lovely pair of Marigolds :-))

We will be putting hand washing stations with hand cleaning soap around the site, along with packs of disposable gloves, so you'll never be far from nice clean hands.
I was up there at the weekend and although its still in evidence its nowhere near as bad as it was. The local watersports have started up again, which is always a good sign.
Stavros and I will also be happy to put boats in and out of the water should anyone be overly concerned. (apart from the OMRA lot, cos you're all looneys) With luck the warning threat will be further downgraded by the time we get there.  O0

The risk is relatively low. Otherwise watersports would not be permitted.
And the Phil and Dave have will set up precautionary washing station.

Animals die because they drink the contaminated water, and they sometimes drink a lot of it.
I only drink tea/coffee/beer.

As LB says, enjoy the day. It is a great location.

I have been in a lake with a suspected outbreak , my wife and about 30 others also were swimming in the same lake , to my Knowledge they are still all pretty normal if you call swimming in a cold lake normal. %%.. The way this weather is going I think the algae will be the least of the problems ,  I heard that an Iceburg is heading that way. :}
