Talacre kit?
« on: September 14, 2008, 03:50:40 pm »

Via email to Mayhem...

About 007 & 008, it's called Talacre / Liverpool and was in the bring and buy sale for £500.
Looks like a Mountfleet kit....

Dear Martin,

I've tried to log in and register etc but you dont appear to work on Sundays or my PC needs more coal!
I am trying to find out about the model that appears in the North Weald W&W 2008 show  photo 007.JPG & 008.JPG.
Can't read the name but the coaster is reg L/pool.
I would love to build that model but cannot find information about a hull or perhaps a kit.
My ideal would be a steam collier from the war years and the hull seems very similar. I have discovered a picture of a vessel called SS Athelglen
but I'm not having much success in tracking down a suitable hull.
The only one I came across so far is 81 ins long but my shed is only 8ft.[ A bulbous bow for the shed has already been suggested!]
The Ideal OAL would be 36 - 40 ins and about 8-9ins beam
Please could you assist?
Pete

It looks very similar to the Caldercraft Talacre to me - I had one 'in build' for several years, then disposed of it for a song when moving to a (much) smaller place.

I did the original Model Boats kit review for Talacre and have a scanned copy available if required.

That was you, was it?  :) I came across the magazine just yesterday while sorting boxes ready for our move.
