Bradders has come up with a "sort of design"..... maybe I should open it up as a sort of competition - design a mayhem badge or even a new logo  :o

Any designers out there with a bit of free time?

Martin.

PS. I have approached a club to ask about the possibility of a Mayhem Open Day / weekend. We'll see what happens.

I think a MAYHEM meet would be great, it would be interesting to talk to other modellers without feeling like the village idiot. My puffer will not be finished by then but if any help is needed organising, my hand is up in the air.

Hi, The sooner we know the better, as I'm sure some of us are already booking up dates for this and that in early 2007 already!

It would also be good to have a firm date - but then not having a new model to take along would be a bit of a downer - having a date would act as a deadline to get something finished by... but which boat??  ;D

Hi Brian and Brian,
A Modelworld had already taken over this matter as they were the one in charge of date, location and whatever....
Anyway- as mentioned before I can not be in charge as it is a bit too far from the southwest of germany to take care. But I`m sure these boys will work it out at their best (as long as there is no daily flogging)....  ;D

Jörg
P.s.: Why not bringing the actual project along? I found it always more interesting to talk about an a not finished boat as about the already finished modles.

Jorg...

I just thought it may be a spur to get me going to finish something off - I spend too much time on here - just like you!  ;D

Yep, I saw A Model World's bit about organising something, but also Martin mentioned trying to organise something as well?

Anyway, 1st April next year I am hoping to be in Holland for a week - so I plan to drive about a bit, Waterloo, Arnhem etc., so maybe meet you for a glass of wine at Remagen or somewhere close and chat about boats we will never get built? I could always catch some expertise off you on how to scratch build WWI warships!  ;D

regards, this Brian  ;)

I am still here if Model Wolrd need any help

That is a good idea to bring along a project in progress, will need to talk to "she who must be obeyed how inportant this is"

I am not sure I can make it if the daily flogging has stopped.

Any name badge will have to show the ranks - no point in being an admiral and not capitalise on it he he he.

In fact why not make admrals come in full dress uniform, then again bad idea

That sounds like a good idea, though they did have crucifixtion in the original version now I do not mind flogging but I draw the line at crucifixtion.

Hi All,

We've read with great interest the posts on a get together for forum members and, as there seems to be a great deal of interest, we have decided to organise a 'Mayhemers' weekend.

After looking around for a fairly central location that is easy to get to with good facilities, we have approached the Wicksteed Park Model Boat Club asking if we can use their lake over a weekend in May, the response so far has been positive and we are looking to finalise a date shortly.- http://wpmbc.homestead.com/

We would like to make this an informal fun get together aimed at all the Mayhemers out there who would like to meet and have a good old chinwag off line and of course sail their boats with overnight camping encouraged for those who wish to stay late chewing the cud and sinking a beer or two.

As there are so many trade events during the year, we are not promoting this event has such. Traders will be more than welcome but purly in the capacity of having a relax and a sail, probably showing off a few existing or new models and maybe putting on an on water display (e.g formation destroyer or tug dancing !!! ). Static diplays etc are welcome, but no trade stands.

We are hoping that clubs may wish to bring along a tent and show there models and put on a few displays as well, but have not approached anyone yet.

What will be on offer:
Free entry
Free Sailing
Free tea and coffee all day for Mahemers, kindly sponsored by (open to offers)
Free parking (well hopefully free if we can negotiate with Wickesteed)
Free pint or two for any Mayhemers camping kindly sponsored by (open to offers)
Free, we supply he heat, you provide the meat BBQ
Free evening entertainment (well a film show)
Free Expert discussions and advise (Martins Jabber)
Free Shelter if it rains, sun shelter if it doesn't (well you never know)
Free to enter static display (well somewhere to keep your models when not sailing)
Free Mayhem fun awards, we'll think up some suitable reasons to give them out during the weekend
Free club display areas (if they want to)
Camping overnight  £10.00
No moaning ....... because its Free

As this is informal we will be providing various awards, certificates, trophies etc for classes and winning models in categories that will become obvious to us during the weekend !?! e.g furthest traveled, best sinking, longest flight silliest idea etc... just general Mayhem stuff, and we will invent some organised more sane sailing events etc nearer the time....unless you have any better ideas..  :D

If there are any clubs that would like to put on a display, or any traders wishing to sponsor 'tea bags' for the weekend etc,  please drop us a line. martin@modelboatmayhem.co.uk

Great idea.  Scores of fellows with boats, in a group, in the heart of the country, milling around looking for a lake and asking directions to the best value bacon sandwich in the area. Part of this group call themselves GOGS and the rest of them have weird names. They all have badges with MAYHEM and they want somewhere to pitch their tepees. ::) ::)

HAVE YOU LOT NOT HEARD OF ASBOs. :o

I wish I would be fit enough to attend sounds like a great idea. ;)

Still I can always see you on the news footage on the TV or in the papers

Hope you can arrange it successfully. :)

I await with interest the location of the meet. :P  Sounds like a good idea to me. There are a few guys I would like to meet in the flesh for a change. :o We should consider TWO meets if possible. One for the guys up North and another for the guys South of Birmingham say.
I live in South Wales but would be happy with the M4 or M5 corridor.

How about we make it Two meets. One for the North of the country and one for the South.
It seems that as much as I would like to meet some of the guys up North, It is just to far to travel
