O.k., o.k., o.k., I`ll set a poll out. To find out the major interest in a mayhem-gathering or whatever you want to call it...  ;D
(Barbie-pushing i.e.)

Though we have an imagination how many are ineterested in such a meeting... and if it is worth to catch up any effort....

.... same here Jorg.... and if he caught me, I wouldn't be able to knock the skin off a rice pudding.  ;)

So no physical exercise or jogging courses at next summer's meet - OK?  ;D

....Volunteers will need to organise things like sailing courses...

if needed I dont mind helping set a course out :)

Simple really  - bangers, burgers, chicken wings etc - ooohhh you mean the steering course, or do you mean an obstacle course for those endulging in the liquid variety to get to the barbie?

i could try both!!

GITS, don`t lead it too far- it could lead to serious health-problems.  ::)

And for the rest, try to see it that way: A man just becomes old, when he is more interested in the dinner as for the waitress who served it!

we are working on this, the pole is a good idea but experience shows we are quite happy to work on the likelihood that with 740 members that will probably be 1200 by February and likely half will be able to attend, its still far easier to tag it to a show then if it takes of big style it can create its own event, we are looking at some possibilities  Its still a mayhemers get together nice and simple only mayhemmers boats will be on site or they will have there own area just in the background maybe a show that would keep the overheads down give us all the workshops possible if you want such as Alan Miller, Alistair Model Motors on motors for example or Mobile Marine and tug towing the list goes on but mayhem would still be separate if they wish, along with how many may need a part that weekend and so on  We are working on it.

Hmmm, just twenty-eight votings? Could it be that the first enthusiasm is over? ::)

.... Jorg, I would consider the percentage take up rather than the actually numbers voting (which is probably the best way of looking at it) - and its still a whole 20% higher than predictions would have us believe.  ;)

So I would continue to be positive about the meeting. After all not every member has been on the Forum since the poll was offered!

Also, if you look at Martins statistics, even though the number of members has doubled in the last 2/3 months, there have still never been more than 34 or so members on-line at any one time during recent months (I assume thats the way its meant to be read? Well, its easier than trying to understand weights and measures innit?  ;D )

Anyway, I guess you understand what I'm on about - please correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure you will..!  ;D )

It's also likely that people are waiting to see what is proposed and where before jumping in(!)

i don't know if martin can set this up or whether the ISP will block it, but a mass e-mail to those e-mail addresses that have been inactive to ask for their views on whether to be included in the poll or to be kept on the register of forum members, some may have forgotten they they joined or just not interested.

Maybe, but we don't want to jump the gun. We should wait until there are some firm proposals to get people's reaction on. A Model World have said they are working on this so let's see what they come up with first and take it from there.

No Jörg, it's a very good idea, just needs a bit of organising, that's all! As you say, plenty of time yet.

I agree with Ghost - lets just try to identify each other when we meet at already existing functions, Blackpool in October, IMBS in November. Then maybe we can go a stage further in March at EPIC when we could perhaps have a separate room where we could meet and show our boats.

Like I said before, perhaps we should fix ourselves up with badges so that we can spot each other at the existing shows.  With Martin's permission, perhaps a cut and paste and print and laminate of the logo near the top of this page.

What about the rowing course at the National Water Sports Centre at Nottingham.
All the facilities are at hand
Toilets Refreshments hotels, all in all a graet location but would have to consult dates with them

I worry that it may turn the forum into somekind of club- with those of you who meet up only interested in talking/helping each other while ignoring those of us who cannot/will not for what ever reasons come along. Would you reply to a stranger on the forum in the same way you would someone you've met, would you want to? How would others feel to read endless posts about what fun you all had about something we could not/would not go to and no longer feel an equal on this forum?

Please, I'm not trying to be negative I really am concerned, or do you think I worry to much? ???
