Getting to the pond II
« on: October 23, 2008, 09:29:27 am »

Here is my alternative '3 Series'

This little chariot is 48v,
Has an effective range of ... Well I get 24 miles in city traffic (stop-start) which is heavy on the batteries. And I am no light weight at 220lbs.
Max speed on the flat 23mph.
The bulkhead at the front of the flatbed flips to make a bench seat.
The back of the flatbed has a door that folds down so I can get larger boats in if the demand arises.
It is wide enough for 3 IOMs side by side.
No roof so I can travel fully rigged.

In China I can go anywhere a push bike can, so almost everywhere a pedestrian can go.
So I get to the waters edge.
Secure parking anywhere in the city is 4p per day, and I can always find parking.

There are loads of variant of this in China.
Mostly pedal power, but many electic and petrol driven variants.
Here they are very cheap. This one cost me about £240. Including batteries, lock, tyre pump, and a waterproof that would fit chinese person (child size in Europe).
This one was made by Flying Pigeon, China's most famous bicycle manufacturer.

I think the Eurocrats would kill this as it does more than 12 kph.
That and the price. The type of electric bike I saw for saile in the UK for £500 is only about £120 here, if that.
And who wants to pay big money for something that wouldn't be allowed to go more than 12 kph. Mine will do 35+ kph.
