North Light New build. R/C Trouble.
« on: October 12, 2008, 02:35:52 pm »

Hi all,
After 4 years in a cupboard I have decided to start to build Caldercrafts North Light it's been 15yrs since I built my last model  ::). I visited my local model shop and asked for all the running gear required to sail her when built and left with the following gear :- Spektrum DX5e transmitter & receiver, Viper marine 20 speed controller, Futaba FPS148 Servo, 6v 10amp battery and a 6 - 15v motor. My problem is in trying to bind the receiver with the transmitter, I have connected the speed controller to the battery and motor then to the receiver in the hope that this would provide power to the receiver. I have fitted the bind plug but nothing happens when power is switched on, ie no LEDs flashing etc. My question is does the receiver require its own independent power source and if so where does it plug in ?.

Thanks in advance.
Being new to the forum just want to say its a superb site.  :-))

The Viper 20 has a BEC so the power from it should power the receiver.

Are all your batteries charged and did you have everything switched on ?

Can you post a photo of your wiring ?

I tried to attach a picture but unfortunately it was to large to download I will have to wait for my wife to organise the photo before I can send it.

Ring Horizon Hobbies in Harlow and ask to speak to Ryan the Service Guy - he'll put you straight on this little quirk.

Turns out it was a faulty reciever. Model shop tested it and replaced it no problem. Fitting it all in this weekend I hope.

Cheers
