Welcome to the forum.
Perhgaps you could give a bit more information about your setup.
Have you any idea about the frequency and type, make of radio, and boat?
Is it a ready to run plastic job?
Are you an angler wanting a bait boat by any chance?

oh, no offence but plz, plz, plz make the title of your post relevant to the subject so that in future it will be found by others with the same problem. This is a particular bugbeare of mine on several forums.

With a standard ie Futaba/Hitec etc TX and RX you should get at least 100yds range on the surface. Keeping the TX aerial vertical and as much RX aerial vertical as possible will give the best results.

What sort of range are you currently getting?

I have no experience of operating over 100 or so metres as I couldn't see the boat clearly enough beyond that! However, vertical aerials will give the best results.
