If any of you guys have converted the larger Tamiya/Revell plastic kits to r/c, could you post up some pics of the internals please? Just a pic of the layout, how you mounted the motors/shafts/radio gear?
My Tamiya 1/350th Missouri will be arriving tomorrow, and I'd just like to see how you guys have done what I'm about to do.

Thanks in anticipation.... ;)

Thank you Martin...is that a Bob's Board I spy in there? Terrific little things, are they still available, I wonder?

Well spotted! A simple, cheap(ish) reliable device that solved a lot of irritations.  :-))
I don't think they are made any more, they pop up on ebay every now and then.

Last speed controller I bought was a Hong Kong job (ebay) £15 delivered!
No setup, no mucking about, connected it up, switch it on and away it went - what more could you want?!  :-)

That sounds good to me Martin, I like simple things (us old council workers aren't that bright, you know...)  :embarrassed: I haven't seen a Bob's Board for ages now, U-117 made her maiden patrol using two of those...they didn't like Hectoperms very much, but they still worked despite getting red hot.

I plan on using four motors in the Missouri, so I'll need two esc's ....£15 each sounds VERY good to me!

This is my own conversion.  The only change I have made to it since completing it is to fit a 2.4 Ghz Spektrum reciever.

Thanks BB, very nice looking boat that, love the weathering work. Wasn't it your good self who did a Tamiya Bismark? Or am I getting you muddled up with someone else? It's my age, you know... :embarrassed:

The second one particularly are just the sort of thing for you and should help with some of your internal layout considerations.

Scoonies did have Bob's boards in various amperages - if you're going to Leamington its worth checking.

You used to be able to pinch them out of old Scalextric controllers.  I doubt they still use them nowadays though but there's plenty of old stuff kicking about in attics around the country.

Model Motors Direct usd to do a small motor which was ideal for these conversions.
I have used them in 3, but sold them on so no pics.

Squires sell some small motors, rated 3-6 volts I think. I bought some for my Airfix QM2 that I haven't got around to building yet.
