Sheet metal tools that will prove useful in the model shop

Sheet metal tools that will prove useful in the model shop. Whether you do a lot of metal work in your model building, or just the occasional piece when nothing else will do. They work with regular sheet metal,copper, brasses, aluminum flashing or coil stock from the home trim. And the thin plastics that can be bent with out cracking.
The first photo is of the corner notcher, along with the crimper tools results.

This one is good for making corrugated flat stock for roofing or siding

These are great for the bending if you don't have a small brake to get the even corners

Here are three longer fixed benders for flat duct work seams.

All can be found in either the heating/plumbing isles or the siding/building materials isles at your Home Despot or local favorite big box DIY home stores. :}

Is this an advert? If so, then it is in the wrong place. Looks like "somebody" is cheating a bit.

O ye of little faith and suspicious minds  :}

Looking at this and other posts by PT Sideshow I think it is as genuine, and comprehensive, attempt to pass on information/advice on how to easily work with metal in your model making, should you want to do so.

Anyway all the tools are referred to generically, as are the possible outlets. So as an advert it fails dismally.

I think you will find Glen a totally genuine, but very quiet member. I have seen his work on other sites.

Doesn't discuss much, but he will show you wonderous things from around the web that you wouldn't think possible, or in some cases far out, but all in some way related to what is done or could be used on the site, and not just tools.

The only problem is that from being from the left hand side of the pond, some of the tools he will show are not available in the UK, or if they are, they will be so specialised, they will be special order only. It seems if you can think of a tool that would be handy, someone in the States will make it, and you can buy them all in their version of B&Q.

Keep up the good work Glen.

Not an advert or offer to sell. They are common sheet metal/tin knocker/heating and ventilating installer tools that come in handy for the movement of metal.
thats the biggest problem with the internet. they are in every diy store that sells vinyl siding and heating duct work. The only thing I sell is parrot toys for the birdies to chew on and they are in wholesale lots and I don't ship out of the country. :}

Thank you for the kind words John as I no long have any of the boats I have built and haven't yet started on the kits I have. I was going to add to the newbes knowledge pool, with some tut on tools not often thought off for model work.

The vise grip locking ones are sold as a flat welding clamp.
The two others are used in the sheet metal trades for duct work for forced air heating and air conditioning. Along with here in the US the aluminum trim work on houses when they are being covered with vinyl siding or in the old days aluminum siding. the flat bar folders are also used in the duct work when you cut a standard length short and have to reform the lip at the joint to make the seam for the connector strip. I know the heating of homes has followed a slight divergent paths on both sides of the pond.

Don't know if the additional info will help tracking them down. One brand name is Malco
