Can anyone show me a picture of thier yacht on a stand.  I imagine you can buy stands for boats but am considering putting something together as a temporary measure.  My yacht is currently sat on my pair of Tannoy speakers which I'm not too happy with so I would like to see what others use to give me some guidance..  Would it be possible to knock something up using a couple of pallets do you think?  I have started a new thread rather than ask in my other thread, 'Look what I was given today', as I want to keep the two seperate.

Thanks

James.

Hi James

A cheap camping stool with a slot cut in the top should get you started and very cheap

I've not seen one in use lately, but the problem with yachts when out side is that they are prone to blowing over if left unattended on these type of stands. The other version is similar to the stool type, but one side is much shorter, and the fin rests on a cross bar near the bottom of the legs. The idea is that the boat lays over at about 45 dgrs. or so, with the keel facing into wind, so the wind blows over the hull and sails, and not against. At our club, all the boats are left laying on the grass when not being sailed.

Hi BobF,

Thanks for your post.  I had not even considered that one might be blown over!  I am thinking more about for in the house and for when I move the boat to the outhouse but thank you for bringing that to my attention, could save some embarrasment eh?!

James

Here is a picture of one I made earlier.  O0 It is much along the folding stool line but can be tailored to fit your yacht. You can see a smaller version (not mine) to the right of the picture. Materials: a length of dowel, some 1" square wood and some upholstery strapping.. Total cost less than a fiver (ish)

Doug, thank you for the picture.  I now feel stupid for asking!  Very simple yet very effective!  Why can I not think of such a simple design myself!!?

Thank you all for your replies,

James.
