Regarding the use of floor/ furniture polish as a grp separator, you should make sure that it is unsiliconed wax, otherwise you might get in a mess. Silicone & Gel coat do not like each other & you end up with snail trails on the surface of your laminate. do not forget that silicone is a moisture displacer.

Yes, good point. IIRC, it was beeswax.. or something similar.

you can buy none silicon based waxes specially for GRP work at such places as Glasplies of Southport, and there is no danger at all in these.
Some waxes say they are none silicon based but carry chemicals which have the same detrimental effects as do silicons, and for the bit extra you pay it's worth not having all the hard work and materials being dumped for want of a few quid.
I bought a new 1kilo tin from them a few weeks back for £13.50.
The last one I bought in 1998 so it goes a long way. :-)) :-))

you are lucky there martin, as health and safety exec won't allow that sort of trading, other than from certified outlets.
I have tried many times to buy from such places as garage door manufacturers etc and they won't sell to the public, and can face a very hefty fine if found to be doing so.........don't tell anyone on open forum , you don't know who's reading......seriously. :-))
I know it happens, and I buy from such a place myself, but I keep it under my hat, as the fine for the trader helping you out can be astronomical in relation to the "crime".murderers get less. >>:-( >>:-(

Just bought a heap of stuff from  there for father in laws 22 ft "model" that he built 15 years ago ,and also when he built the boat still cheap £80 for 10 litres of resin , 5 kgs of 600grams matting and catalyst was free, dearest part was delivery due to being in the Highlands was £25 but a lot of places was next to nothing
