Progress So Far
« on: November 14, 2008, 05:05:25 pm »

Hi All,

This just to let you know my progress so far in building the Antje II from Robbe. In a previous post in DC & Brushed Motors - Please Help Motor Not Running I had problems getting the motor running but have managed to move on from that. I changed the ESC and battery and all seems to be OK. I have not scrapped the original battery and ESC, they can be used for future projects! (Oh yes, there will be future project, I'm hooked  %%). I changed to an Mtroniks Marine 15 Plug and Play with a 7.2v battery pack and the motor runs great. The electrics is mostly installed and I have done a bath test. It looks like I may need to add a bit of ballest to the bows as she seems a little high. I was surprised at the noise that motor and running gear makes in operation!

I have finished the decking and all the bits and pieces under the deck so it will soon be time to fit that permanently to the hull  %%. I'm enjoying it very much and learning a lot as I progress. It's my first boat and I'm learning by experience and I enjoy having to work through each problem that I find.

I must admit that I can't help think about my next project. There is so much good stuff out there and at the moment I'm looking closely at the lovely models produced by Model Slipway. Still that's for later after Antje II has had her maiden voyage.

Cheers for now, Chris

Hello chris, I have also built the Antje and thought the bows looked a little high in the water so I added some ballest in the bows, but now seeing her under power in the water
I think the bow "digs" in so Im going to remove the ballest I put in, by the way I use a 6v gell cell battery so you might need a little weight midships if your using a lighter battery pack.

cheers Les

Hi Les,

I've left the fittings in for the original lead acid cell that i was going to use so I can fit that to add ballast with the other battery on top. Good to hear that you've built Antje, I've got someone to bug in case I get stuck!  :-))

What colour scheme did you use? Do you know anywhere on the web that has pictures of these boats as I'm looking for an alternative from the Robbe colours.

Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris heres a link to a Antje on this site, Ive put wood strips around the bulwarks simaler to the one in this link, the main hull colour I used was a green spray paint from halfords
and gloss black below the waterline.

Hi Spike,

Thanks for the link which I'd already seen. It has already been useful to me as regards the errors on the instructions and the fitting of the motor. Thanks for that.

Cheers, Chris
