Rigging problem

I Have a problem when using a length of rigging thread from one point to another..as soon as tie a knot after pulling the thread taught...it goes slack and droops..
so it does not look right..ps..i have never been very good with knots..any help would be greatly appreciated..thanks.

Tie off one end and run the cord to where you need to fix the other end, pull it as tight as you need and put a dab of cyano where it touches. When the glue dries tie your knot, or use shirring elastic

Or....instaed of tying a knot, use a short loop of thin cotton thread. place it over the end and pull it tight. Then a spot of glue. Works for me and you can then use the ends of the thread as whipping..
