Help on Dumas Lord Nelson Victory Tug
« on: November 28, 2008, 09:46:58 pm »

Perhaps a member has experience with electronics and can give me some guidance.  What is the best battery installation approach for this model?

The drawings show five C cells installed in the stern, 3 on one side and 2 on the other.  Tech notes on other web sites say to construct the 5 batteries in a "saddle pack."  The Dumas site says to use "a 6V NiCad battery pack."  I'm not familiar enough with batteries to select the right battery set.

Hi P,
I've been looking at this kit for a couple of years, and really want one. I was just about to order one when the price went through the roof, so decided against it.
How did you find it as a kit? wood quality - fittings etc.
Thanks Bob.

Bob,

Mr. Crowell's report on R/C groups.com has far more info than I could provide.  I have only begun researching the basics and have not yet started.

As I recall, most reports on this model are positive, though.  There are reports of reduced expense in the running gear and window treatment.  Mr. Crowell updated these and created his own window trim that more nearly matches the actual boats, I think.  He also added more power.  That's where I am in my research.

Thanks for the inquiry.
:-)
