Krick Victor 2 steam plant

Im very interested in one of these steam plants for the SlipWay Envoy kit I've got. Has anyone got one of these steam plants if so, how to they measure up, good, average, poor?

There's no one I know locally who uses steam so, is there a book I can get that shows you how to set up a good unit ie positioning of boiler, engine, gas tank and traps etc? There's also basic stuff such as re filling ie the type of can you fill from rather than what you fill into etc?

Hi justboatonic,

For the envoy i would avoid a vertical boiler set up and go for a horizontal arrangement, you may not have enough head room from the boiler to the deck/superstructure.
The choices of steam plant depending on your budget are limited to the graupner horizontal plant or if you can stretch a bit money wise i would go for the superior John Hemmens Ribblesdale horizontal plant excellent quality and featured recently in the current model boats mag by our friend bunker barge.

The Hemmens plant has a v twin engine and can be supplied with gas tank, steam oil seperator and all the pipe work ready to steam.

Hi Ian. Many thanks for this info! Is there a web site for John Hemmens products?

Where you will see Abrad's Envoy with a steam plant.  If you send him a PM you might be able get some ideas from huim as to how he put his together.
