It might well be cheaper than nitro but it is no where near as cheap and electrics...
And with the right setup just as quick..

The RTTL hull is a displacement hull, NOT a planing hull, but she will lift with suffiocient power.
2 x Buhlers on 24 volts had mine planing, these motors are a lot less powerfull than a 26cc petrol engine.
The RTTL's only had a top speed of 21 knots on emergency power, 110% rated output and could only use this for a max of 20 mins.

And to be realistic how many vessels were really run at the maximum speed except during wartime of course, even then a lot never seen "give it all it's got"...

Roy,
At least once a month if I had my way. To clear out any carbon and give the turbos a good run.

ohoy there mateys were not talking about a full size boat here ,sorry to disrupt your remenising lol .were talking about a model boat for fun and what better fun than to see the thing at full whack!!!im sure 26 cc would get the thing planing nicely also the petrol engine would be easier to set up than electric in my opinion and no need to charge battery packs either.just charge the radio and go!!.also the engine would be cheaper than buying motors and speed controllers and battery packs not to mention 3 tubes 3 props and 3 couplings.so yes petrol is cheaper than electric in my opinion.

I know, but at full whack, you can't see it - and if you can't see it, you can't enjoy the fine lines and the excellent build and the superb paintwork you've slaved over for sooooooo long! Which reminds me of tht 'joke' - 'what's the fastest cake? - Scone!   :D

Well, the model at full whack would be just like that - Scone! Thats no good at all - remember, you need to see it to enjoy it!!  ;D

As much as the thought of 26cc wetted my whistle, the weight of the thing is 1500g heavier than the boat can take :(

Looking down the same old road again! ::)

Simon why dont you go for two 600 motors on your boat using two esc,s and two battery packs ? im sure that would give you a decent performance.not 30 mph but more of a scale speed!!.or upgrade to 700 motors ,just a thought!!.you can get those motors for a few quid and an  esc for £19.99 on ebay.you could even go for 3 motors ?.what length is the boat?
