PS Ships \ Sirmar websites
« on: September 18, 2006, 09:10:49 pm »

Are these two sites going to run separately or will they be merged into a new improved single site? Never really liked the look of the sirmar site, always looked a little amateurish if Im totally honest. Sorry!

Paul do you sell a flight one Arleigh Burke?? If ya do then there's a rip off copy of your hull on sale on Ebay. To be honest it could be a copy of the flight 2a you sell without the hanger sides moulded on aft.

Here's the hull Ebay listing

Paul it will be VERY VERY poorely laid up I can assure you of that with absolutely NO detail on the hull. I bought a seine net fishing boat hull from that joker earlier on this year and it'll take a LOT of work to make a half decent stand off scale model out of I can assure you.

This guy does copy other people's hulls all the time ( hell he even advertised one of his rubbish copies as a Billings fishing boat hull !! ) , he's copied Metcalf mouldings hulls , Kingstone mouldings and Mobile marine too.

Please everyone take a note of the vendor's name and never buy from him you WILL be extremely disapointed.

As one user of another forum I go on says , "it takes just as long to get it right as mess it up" and this guy just messes it up !!!

Paul..

Probably a good idea to ask a question to the seller via the eBay item board - that way, like the question from the guy pointing out it clearly isn't a WWII US Battleship hull, you'll get your point across in front of millions of ebayers! Then go direct to eBay with a complaint about the illegality of what he is up to (which I'm sure you are doing anyway!) Cheers, Brian

good luck with Ebay Paul, lets hope they listen. I have found them less than sympathetic in the past when dealing with breaches of copyright, all they seem to think about is their profit margin.

Paul I have found ebay to be quite sympathetic if you approach them correctly, but do not lay down the law to them or they become huffy...
They have been very helpful in removing people who do not do the right thing....

The listing description suggests that there are a number of hulls available yet the guy virtually admits he doesn't know what it is. As Brian says, posting a pertinent question might be a good idea to highlight this.

I just don't get this... Bidders are currently prepared to risk £67.00 for a hull (plus £15.00 postage charge) and they don't have a clue where the hell it originates from.  ??? What ??? Jorg, Das ist Unglaublich!  ;D

Paul,

If you go after him, what is the cost. Solicitors aren't cheap and you have to prove he has copied your hulls etc. Try the benefits agency they may be able to trace him through eBay, also if he is selling copies of your hulls on eBay they will put a stop to it.

Remember the people who buy his hulls do so because they are cheap and would propertly never buy yours.

Paul,
My sympathy is with you.
You spend the money developing the hull in the first place,  have qood quality control AND reputation, then this feller wants to make money off your back.
Yes his product looks sub-standard, but if he improves, then YOU are likely to take the flak for a product that isnt even yours.
But
I do see a problem PROVING it is one of your hulls, especially as yours is the correct dimensions, so will his be.
Best of luck whichever path you choose

Stick it to him Paul, it's weak that they do this sort of thing so he needs to be stopped, might also make someone else think twice..
