Following my posts on “My Builds” I have had a few requests for the hull plans to my 68 inch Vosper RTTL.

As mentioned in the build, the hull plans have been converted from the original blueprints (Greenwich Maritime Records Office) to a DXF file and now to a PDF. (Thanks to Steve) This has all been done at my cost and a few volunteers who have regretted it ever since.

These hulls would be suitable for anyone to try and build one of the Vosper Motor Gun Boats, Motor Torpedo Boats, Air Sea Rescue and my favorite the Rescue and Target Towing Launch. They are of the classic Vosper Thorneycroft hard chine hull and can be resized to form anything from a 30ft Sea Plane Tender to the 70 odd foot MGB’s. Some may require a bit of reshaping etc.

I am in it for my pleasure, not the money. I struggled to get info on these and would like to give other modelers the option of these builds, it would be simple for anybody to print off the pages and cut, build their own hulls from the keel and 14 bulkheads, or pass to a machine shop and have them cnc cut. In any scale they want. From 1/72 to 1/1.

If you want to have a go at an original set of frames, I would be happy to forward a CD with the details or email them over.

All I would request is that you make a sensible donation to the RNLI for their ongoing support.

You have no idea what a circus it has turned into, personally he did nothing for me and I did not like the way he came across on the idiot box, but the fact is he was not like it in real life, just an ordinary sort, but put a camera in front of him and he went off, but still it is a three ring circus at the moment, for his families sake I hope it dies out soon..

As Simon has said the files are now in a combined folder that contains the DXF and now PDF files. In pdf format it could be taken to your local friendly sign maker who uses a plotter/printer. If they are printed (after the relevent scaling to actual size required) you can have them laminated and use them over and over without them coming to much harm. If you feel flush, have them printed onto self adhesive vinyl and stick them on a material suitable for making formers that will go on to making the frames proper.That way you just cut round the vinyl. Anyway, in spite of what Simon says, it was no problem. The RNLI is as good a cause as it gets. :)

hi Roy my son loved him and i must say his heart was in the right place,it was a bit of a shock the way he went i allways thought the crocs would get him!!.back to this boat im still stumped as to how far apart to put these frames ,id like to do the boat 4 ft rather than 6, or 2 ft 6.any ideas guys?.i printed the frames at 100% that gives me 11,1/4 wide at widest point(beam) would that sound about right for a 4 ft boat?.i know for that size boat i cant buy fittings etc but i intend building from scrath including guns tubes rocket launchers who knows if im brave i might build the forward gun as a bb gun!!.ths john drain site has a 4 ft boat and i was thinking of copying a few ideas from that one!! heres a link to it http://http://www.pt-boat.com/ its a cool site lots on how to build the guns as working bb guns etc even working torpedoes and rockets (look out ducks)

My father served on the RTTLs in Gibraltar in the mid 60's & I want to build one - slightly smaller than the original obviously. Please could you forward a copy of the plans to get me started ... ?
We live about 3 miles from a lifeboat station & a donation will be forthcoming.

Iwould love a copy of these plans as i am agreat fan of all S A R boats and send regular donations to the R N L I As i live in middle england my nearest lifeboat station is in Skegness, So i dont get there often and at the moment i am building the revell 1:72 marwede kit .I am normally a scratch builder but seeing this kit in model boats mag last year i fell in love with it so my daughter got it for me at xmas
By the way i have a set of plans for a norwegian patrol boat i can let youhave if you are interested

I have a GRP hull for this class of boat. Could you tell me whether or not your plans include any superstructure details please?
I started on this some 15 years ago but somehow it all got consigned to the "do later" shelf!!

No plans sorry, i use set drawn by Vic Smeed, they are good for a guide but not 100% accurate. They are still available from normal stockists.

With pictures of 2757 at Hendon and other bits and pieces you can make an accurate model.

Its not that difficult, all slab sides etc.

Most difficult reference is the decks, very few pictures with detail.
