Yes, I think this site strikes a pretty good balance and has a lot of very helpful people contributing. Good overall sense of humour too! We owe Martin a lot!

I too have no intention of joining a Modelboat forum it ever appears, Martin has done such a fantastic job I think we owe it to him to stay.

I agree that there is not enough room for another general model boat forum, there are many specialist forums like the excellent Paddleducks  which I belong to, and I think there is room for them too. But for the main Forum I think this one is ideal.

Emma Jayne,

Looking back through your previous posts' you've only asked one other serious question. Judging from the follow-up comments, not one mayhem'er could answer it. MB forum was slap-bang in the middle of a Seaqueen chat, then they pullled the plug. Doug 99 sent me his plan sheets, but it only shows two elevations. Like you, I wanted to learn how to make them bloody ribs. That's the reason I asked if MB might come back.

What about yours?... Is you bad?... is you a sinner?...

QTH received, btw. PM mssg just bounces back. But yep - I know where you mean... about 15 miles as the crow flies.

Thank you for your PM, Jorg.

PK, you will probably receive mail at your web address before you see this.
Exactly as you said, just before the Chard by-pass.

Ladies- gentlemen,
let`s cut a long story short:
Everybody has an own opinion and expectation. Like said before- it`s like TV. Either you stay or you switch off. These opinions and expectations usually lead to a discussion- and if this is lead in a fair, well-manered behaviour it could lead to a result. I am parallel in a several other chats and some of them are significant for personal blames and rude comments.
If anybody has an opinion, which might taste as "Strong-beer" this could depend on two facts: Either you are to sensitive or the other one hasn`t found the right words to bring his meassage. Personal blames should be banned- and I think that Martin does the right thing. I have faith in his judgement.
However: if there will be the MB-forum back or not is no point of discussion. Look over the masses of informations, hints and tips collected here meanwhile. The base for that was Martins effort- but the knowledge is all yours/ours!
Though, let`s keep it up- don`t blame it on somebody if he wants to change or return or visit parallel the MB-forum (if it will return).
The discussion we lead here at the moment will lead to nuffink! As long as the MB is not active, there is no need to discuss about it. And if it is back:
Welcome! It will not harm me anyway. Have found here shipmates, like-minded nuts and made some nice personal contacts. The same I have had at the MB-forum before. I don`t take them as a opponent (or whatever you want to call it), I take them as an addition!  ;)

O.k.- hope that my opinion was not to strong and my English not too bad.  :D

Have a nice weekend,
Jörg

Emma Jayne,

PMK

From the 2 elevations shown, which I told you about, you should be able to determine the shape of the bulkheads.

If you look at the plan elevation you will see that the upper and lower chine edges are shown. For each bulkhead measure the distance from the fore/aft centre line. On a piece of paper mark a centre line and draw vertical lines at the required distances from it marking each as upper or lower as required.  Looking at the side elevation you will be able to see the height above the keel that the chine edges occur. If you now draw horizontal lines at these distances, on a piece of paper, relative to the vertical centre line where they cross the vertical lines gives the corners of the bulkhead. Joining the points will give the basic shape of the bullhead. The deck edge is curved but again using the side elevation you can determine the height of the curve at the centre line and draw a fair curve through the 3 points.

I hope this makes sense as it is easier to do than describe. If you need further help just holler.

Cheers

Received loud and clear, Doug. And yes - thanks to your gift of turning gibberish into readability - it's making perfect sense.
Not sure about your opening line though. Qoute: "...the 2 elevations shown, which I told you about.". Unquote.
When?... where did you tell me about?? I've just re-read my PMs in case I missed one. Also back-checked at the page where all your previous postings are. As far as I can tell, nothing there. But in case I have missed anything, this missive might explain why I didn't reply soonest. Please accept me 'umble-est.

You said it's okay to holler if I need further help. Do you mind if I take you up on that? There are a couple nigglies concerning the superstructure. Too early yet, but can I pick your brains nearer the time?

Anyway, thanks for jumping in when you did. Somebody said there are over 700 members here. What's it like knowing you're the only one that knew the answer?

Mucho respecto.

You're welcome. I'll be away for two weeks in the middle of October but apart from that I should be on every day (sad I know).

I thought I told you that there were only two elevations when I offered you the plans. I also added that as the boat was hard chine it was relatively easy to determine the cross section. However, I don't keep a record of my posts and my memory may be playing me up  ;D

Thank you, Doug. Although, I doubt I'll be pestering you for a while yet. I'm only at the keel stage. My job eats too many hours, so I'm not at the bench as ofen as I'd like. I have a Virgin Atlantic airticket sitting here... yet ANOTHER jaunt to the States. Will gladly swap for your two-week break.

If you don't mind, then, I'll holler for your help a bit further down the road.

Have a good 'un, and many thanks once again.

??? ???Hi, Can I put my 2pence worth in. I mailed John C in May and his reply was that as at the 15th May, the newly designed site would be up and running by end May together with on-line purchasing of plans etc.
As of tonight still no sign of it but I agree this one is fine. Bernie. :) :)
