Chairman's Challenge
« on: January 11, 2009, 03:54:55 pm »

The chairman of Northampton and District Model Boat Club issues a building challenge to members each year. The 2008 challenge had the theme of 'Recycling' where the hull had to be constructed from plastic drinks bottles or food cans. The superstructure was also to be made from scrap/recycled materials. The craft had to look good on the water and sail for at least 10 metres across a pond at a local Steam Rally in August.

We had some interesting entries and the winner was our scale secretary, Ian Robins, whose craft met nearly all of the set criteria apart from his bottle tops being the wrong way.

Well done Ian who has received a club trophy and a personal prize from the chairman.

His craft - TESCO - every little helps!

The challenge for 2009 is to help reduce the current paper mountain - will post this if anyone is interested.

Happy sailing

Captain Chris

Yes, publish the rules when you have them Chris, some clubs are always looking for new ideas!
Any more pictures of last years boats?
