Hi all new to forum Ive been working on my boatboat and have notice that where top sits over bottom there is some cracking and splitting and bits missing around the lip Witch is about 5mm wide  and .5mm thick don't think it matters how thick this is as to seal boat back up you have to use aqua sealent What would be best to repair this thanks in advance for any replies

A picture would be more helpful, but you could glue a strip of something like evergreen plastic strip inside the broken lip.

Right then as Bob has already said some 1mm or 1.5 mm plasticard from a model shop should do the trick,and get some plastic weld whilst you are there.What you do is very easy,cut the damaged area so it is straight cut some plastic card with a stanly knife or similar to fit the damaged area.Now get out the plastic weld and a small modeling paint brush,offer your new bits to the damaged area and paint the plastic weld along the join between new and old.The palstic weld will work by capillary action and glue your repair sections to the hull,if when dry you want to strengthen then furthe either double up and do the same or get some epoxy glue like Devcon 2 ton and apply that underneath the repair.If you need more help then ASK
