how good are you at research ?
« on: January 15, 2009, 08:24:21 pm »

Heres a brain teaser.
What do you know about " HMS Puffin "  a WW11 corvette  ref K52 . please

My uncle served on her in the Russian convoys apparently [ or so the family historians claim] His name was David Singleton and had a three bladed prop on his uniform

I would like to find out anything I can from other members or direct me as to where I can find out anything

I await your response hopefully      :-))

Thank you RON1, thats a great help.

I note she was designed as a  patrol vessel and used as a Coastal convey ship, and cost £214,379.00 for the pair [ Puffin & Mallard ]

many thanks for your time      :-))

Thank you   mainthestreet and gingyer for your help .

I would just pass on a comment to... maninthestreet......that I'm sure it did just take you 5 mins to find the information......but you new where to look and how to go about it ...I would just remind you that you had to learn "the ropes" at some point ....and this is where I am at the moment.....so be a little understanding and tolerant please....

Well, I did suggest in my first post that googling 'hms puffin' was a good place to start.
Google is here:

www.google.co.uk

Enter 'hms puffin' in the search box, and then press the 'Google Search' button.
All my advice is free, I never charge fellow model boaters for my knowledge or time.
