Another step along the way! (so much different from placing your bachmann loco on the track and turning the controller on).

How critical is the length of the antenna wire fitted to the receiver on the boat. I am wanting to fit a rigid wire antenna to the outside of my tug and then connect the thin wire from the reciever to that. Is that feasible or is there some complex formula involved  (like converting proper feet and inches to this new fangled metric jobby) to work out antenna length.

All replies gratefully received if not necessarily understood!!! ???
just wire it up there wont be any problems at all ,just dont shorten the wire on the receiver,on yaghts we sometimes connect to the back stay (wire) or the mast if its aluminium and that acts as your ariel and can give you more range also.shortening the wire on the receiver is a big no no DONT DO IT!!!!!

With tongue in cheek, i must be weird, i actual understood PMK's descriptions, as i have posted elsewhere, this sort of information is invaluable to those of us not proficient in electrics etc.

Though some of the following remarks have had me giggling, as i can see the funny side of the need to get what some people might say 'too the point' or a simple yes or no.

Respect to PMK for the imparted Knowledge, but dont take offence to the light hearted banter, well it brings a smile to my face anyway. ;D
