I have just pulled the hull from the mould and added the first coat of yacht varnish. I discovered a good site on lapstrake building (clinker ) it has been an interesting process to date.

Don't know if you went to Harrowgate Mike but there was a display by Bertinat's son of the whole collection of his dads engines including both versions of the Borderer and Marcher. Slide and piston valve types.

Made a little more progress most in mock up as I try moving stuff about.
The boiler is upside down as it sits in the hull a little better at the moment.

Thanks for the interest:
While I have been on holiday in the USA for the last three weeks this is the current progress,decks complete yellow wood rear deck which was Pear has been replaced as I didn't notice that I had mixed up the timber my son pointed this out after I had varnished the decks

The foredeck is removable to give access to gas supply and the bulk head is still only a mock up,the flooring will hold the engine boiler etc. and is also removable.

Turns out the boiler purchased from Ebay was soft soldered and sprayed with undercoat to hide the fact

So time to get the saw out to salvage some of the copper.
Once again with lots of help and support from Mick my mentor this is the result.

Five inches if you check the previous posts you can see that the original boiler was substantial.
