Imara.....total novice needs help
« on: March 27, 2009, 09:03:00 am »

hi everyone.
have experience in wood ship modelling, have completed sergals sovereign of the seas, and midway through caldercrafts victory. I am going to give the vic a "break" for now and from my "cuboard of toys" as my wife calls it, I have dug out my imara kit. this kit i got untouched from ebay a few years ago, and is i think the original version that comes with the propellers in the box.
Up to now, I have only been interested in large static models requiring a lot of detail work, and was going to do the imara in the same way.
On reading through articles on this site, which I think is one of the best I have found, and others, I have come to the conclusion that would be a waste of a good kit. My intention now is to do the kit justice, and hopefully install electric motors, smoke, sound and full lighting  (and if room a thirty piece orchestra). As i have said, know nothing on any of this, if somebody gives me something, I can "usually" figure it out, so what I am asking, is can anybody give me a list of what is required and where possible to get it. Regarding the motors, I wont be using them much, but want some that I can rely on.
many thanks pat.

Welcome Cornishlad. Contact our own FLJ for everything to do with electrics. He is very helpful, even to those of us who know nothing about the subject. He will sort out a cracking electrics diagram for you, which is easy to follow and he is always available to help......You can pm here on the site, or make contact via his website at:

Try MMB (Nomustangmark) on this forum: marksmodelbits.com.

He can supply a smoke generator that uses tap water and motors which on 6 volts direct drive will power her silently and slightly over scale speed flat out.

Hi Pat
Welcome to the crazy world of Mayhemers, I'm currently building an Imara, so if you need any help I'll do my best for you.
